Dangerous goods training

Transport operations falling under the scope of UK Carriage of Dangerous Goods Regulations (CDG), are required by law to employ the services of an appropriately qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA). The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the accrediting body in the UK for this qualification. Examinations are held at various centres throughout the UK four times per annum, usually on a Thursday.

DFF offers public courses that to run the week before the SQA examination dates. This approach is designed to give time for revision with candidates working independently or supported by an on-line or telephone link to the tutor.

DGSA training programmes are carried out ‘in-house’ for a number of clients where there is either a large contingent or a special need. These include export programmes with examinations arranged and held overseas.

Normally the programmes last five days and cover all 9 ADR classes of dangerous goods, a route that leads to the most straight forward set of SQA examinations. Preparation is for three examinations, ‘Core’, ‘Road’ and ‘All Classes’, all of which can be attempted on the same day.

The DGSA qualification is valid for five years, after which it has to be renewed by taking a further set of examinations.
